Fourth of July Week/Weekend

Well, I am at least glad that I am making a weekly post. But, who was I fooling thinking that I could keep my postings strictly related to running. I guess there is no stopping my propensity to stray off into other topics, when I have this kind of forum.

This week was a short work week, as the office closed early on Thursday and all day on Friday. We had a BBQ at work before the office closed. Since it was a short week, I missed the run on Tuesday. Typically, I drive from Silicon Valley back to Oakland every Tuesday night to run with the team-but I missed it this week.

On Saturday, Sam and I ran 7 miles at Inspiration Point in the Oakland Hills. The course is fairly hilly and was a good workout. The wind was very strong and it was difficult to run, but I was very glad to get the 7 miles in. Next week, I hope to run about 14 miles (total), with my long run on Saturday being 8-9. Sam was running a bit quicker than me, so we ran at our own paces most of the run and reconnected at the end.

As for my mentoring, it has been a lot harder this year. The whole Team in the Bay Area is 147 and that means I am mentoring 13 participants. It has been difficult connecting with all of them because there are a lot and they live all over. Hopefully, now that my birthday and the holiday is over, I can get in touch with the new participants on my list.

After the run, I showered, walked Triton, and went to a BBQ at my friend Tamara's house. The food and company were wonderful and I had a great time.

I would like to thank the most recent donors to the LLS: Heather and Christen, and Phil (my mentor my first year in TNT)
