Busy Week

Well, it is the end of June and although this blog is primarily designed to document my training, I feel I must mention two important events; 1) My Bday!!! and 2 )Michael Jackson's untimely death.

First, my birthday: Had a bunch of friends to Le Colonial in San Francisco and had a blast. I never put together a party before and was a little nervous, but everything went extremely well and I had so much fun. I feel very grateful and happy that everyone came and had a good time. I've already started looking for a venue for next year!

Second, M.J. -No surprise here- I have always been a huge fan. Generally, I am a very cynnical person, but I have doubts about him being a child molester. If I'm right, I can only imagine how the suggestion of that and the trial destroyed this already fragile person. And, really, he was maligned and taunted by the press. Surely, he had issues, but he was also an abused child. Geraldo Rivera is reporting that he weighed 112 lbs when he died and had bruises on him. He was 5'10". Something is wrong with that. I will quote my friend Rick about M.J " we all grew up with this magical black kid who conquered the world and brought us together with song and dance. then he became a totured freaky white woman with children. how could the trauma and psychosis be processed? we are now able to love his gifts without feeling like were enabling a monster. its a relief in so many respects. hes at peace and we can enjoy his gifts.

I don't believe he was a monster at all. Well, that is enough about Michael.

Running : Ran 6 miles for my long run with the team and am having a great season so far with the team. One of my participants is a single Mom with twins who is doing all of the training (except the Saturday runs) and fundraising on her own. So, she is truly an inspiration to me and an example of why I love the Team. People really sacrifice in order to help others.

Shout outs this week to the most recent donors to the cause: Melody, Sybil, Tom, Jen, and Tiffany ( a two time generous donor). Thank you!
